Get started with natural building, Oct 2025
3 days of immersion into natural building and life… in the hills of Nainital, within a bird sanctuary, with gurgling streams and forests all around.
Natural Building includes a variety of building techniques that focus on creating sustainable buildings which minimize their negative ecological impact. Natural Buildings often rely on non-industrial, minimally processed, locally available, and renewable materials and can also utilize recycled or salvaged materials.
Some questions that will no longer remain questions after this workshop include :
– What are natural buildings, different popular techniques of natural building?
– Which one would be right for me?
– Advantages and limitations of each technique like Cob, Earthbag, Stone, Bamboo, Wattle and Daub, Rammed Earth, Strawbale…
– What if I live in a high rainfall area or snow or the desert?
– How much does it cost? What if my budget is very little?
– Do I need to be an architect or hire one? Will Geeli Mitti build it for me?
– Can I use the soil at my place to build?
– How do I test soil at my land and use it?
– Where should I build on my land?

Rs.11,000 for the 3 days workshop. Plus GST.
This does NOT include accommodation charges or meals. You will receive a confirmation along with a welcome letter with dos and don’ts, post registration. Registration will be non-refundable. If you cannot make it due to an exigency, you can however send someone in your place.
All funds, post direct costs, go to support our community initiatives. We do not ask for donations and believe sustainability of any initiative also means financial sustainability.
Multiple options available for varying budgets and preferences. Shoes/slippers need to be opened outside living areas.
1. Dormitory-style with shared bathroom block.
Comfortable large space with dorm style sleeping on different levels.
Mattresses, Pillows, Sheets and Blankets are all provided.
Rs.1100/day/person, inclusive of food.
2. Luxurious mud cottages with private bathroom.
Four of our exclusive cottages are available, for families or on twin sharing basis. It is an experience to remember.
Cottages have their own hot water kettle, bedding, towels.
Rs.7000-8000/day for 2 people, inclusive of food.

We will also help with the coordination for car pooling and taxi bookings from Delhi. Participants flying in internationally and domestically are advised to fly in to Delhi itself.
You can plan for arrival to the Geeli Mitti centre by 5:00pm on 22nd Oct. ’25 or else before 8:30am on 23rd Oct. ’25 and for departure post 4.00pm on 25th Oct. ’25.

Please note that we have 3-4 super friendly dogs on site so incase you don't like dogs or are super scared, this might not be the right place.
We will also help with the logistics, coordination, car pooling and taxi bookings post registration. So do not worry about that. It is helpful though to book early, for planning.
